Lunch with Roomies

We were all roomies at Rick's College (yes, it's Rick's to me!) Melissa is from Missouri and was out visiting family in Draper. It was fun to see her two cute girls and husband, Gordon. Erin came down from Farmington. The amazing thing was neither Erin or I got lost this trip! LOL. It was a great lunch and time to catch up. It had been quite awhile.

Our First Vege Garden

We are excited about being able to finally have a little vegetable garden. We brought in some top soil, railroad ties, and some plants. Here is a picture of it. We have spices, tomatoes, peppers, carrots, peas, and potatoes. We hope to add another one next year so we can have more types of plants like corn and pumpkins. :D

Kala's Favorite Toy - Fish on a Fishing Pole

In case you haven't noticed we get a real kick out of Kala. She LOVES this toy we have now had like 10 of them, cause they keep breaking. It's a little fish on an elastic string. She goes flying into the air doing flips etc. to get the little thing. She begs us to play all the time. She comes bringing it to us with the fish in her mouth and the fishing pole dragging close behind her. Here is a little sampling of her air tricks. As you can tell Nick and I laugh the whole time we are playing with her.

Kala - Soda & Playing Ball

Kala loves boxes and bags and these little sparkley balls that we got her. She chases them all over the house and carries them around in her mouth. On this day we were getting rid of some soda boxes and she started playing in them. It was sooo entertaining, Nick & I were laughing the whole time. At the end she has a little misjudgement and goes toppling down the stairs.

Kala likes to help do laundry too. She burrows down inside a batch of fresh warm laundry, it's the perfect nap spot.

During the work day, Kala is always nearby me. On this day she found a spot above my monitor in my desk. Curled up with the books.

Snowed in with Taralee & Leah

A crazy blizzard came through and Taralee & Leah had been visiting. That night hundreds of commutors were snowed in on the freeway. There were 250 cars staying overnight at a closeby Maverick - I can't imagine the lines for the bathroom there. It was pretty crazy and we were so lucky that Bruce, Taralee's husband had got the heads up from a co-worker on the storm.

Sledding with Kimballs

This past winter we had a fun weekend with the Kimballs. The kids brought their sleds and Nick broke out his snowboard. By the time they were done they practically had an olympic loge with a jump and all. The kids and Nick and Chris were outside for hours and had a blast.

Kate in the meantime got into everything and had a good time keeping mom busy. Including trying to eat Kala's food - lol. She is quite a cutie but all the same a mischievous little girl.

Dinosaur Museum Trip

A Day with the Dinosaurs.

On a recent trip with Cathy and the kids, we made a trip to the Dinosaur Museum. The girls had a good time in the play zone with water, sand, trees, and dinosaurs making their own islands etc.

We saw huge dinosaur, fish, sharks, and mamoth skeletons. Also, we watched a 3D Movie with all kinds of water dinosaurs. The girls were a little scared of the mean ones, but liked the little fish swimming close to them. Cathy told Bethany that if she got scared to take off the glasses, so Bethany decided that the glasses were scary and at first wouln't put them on. It took a lot of coaching, but she finally put them on.

We also built our own dinosaur, with different heads, tails, legs, arms, etc. The girls had a great time with this one.

New Addition to the family - Kala :)

First Day Home for Kala
After visiting the humane society and getting to know a lot of kitties and puppies, we found a good fit with 10 month old tabby cat, KALA. When we brought her home, we opened the carrier and she looked like a ferret perched up as high as should could on her hind legs and did a full 360 viewing of the space a couple times before she dared venture out. It was very cute. She is getting used to Nick and I and her new home.

She is a little attached to us right now and cries for us when we leave a room. I equate it to separation anxiety that babies have when you are out of sight. She thought she could explore on her own and went half way down our stairs and when she couldn't see us anymore she cried until we came and called her.

She joined us in our office downstairs and was having fun catching Nick's mouse (computer mouse). Then after awhile Kala found a perfect spot for her on to of my office chair. You can see her trying to sleep on the chair in the picture above.

Our lives are now forever changed, we have a new house with a yard and new cat. Possibly a puppy too...to be continued. :D
